• Clients who have undergone chemotherapy within the past 12 months

• Clients prone to keloid scarring

• Diabetics or clients with heart conditions or epilepsy

• Overly red or delicate skin

• Extremely sensitive skin

What happens to my eyebrow hair?

Your tattoo treatment will not impact your hair growth.

No hair removal is allowed within 7 days prior to your treatment as this can cause sensitivity. No hair removal for 2 weeks post treatment while healing.

We will tweeze or shave stray hairs to assist with creating your desired shape.

For clients that have little to no natural hair Jessica is highly skilled to perform procedures with or without hair present in the eyebrow area.

How are the colours selected?

The choice of colours depends on your skin tone, the colour of your hair and eyes and your desired results. Our artists will select suitable colours and custom mix to create the best match for you.

How many treatments do I need?

Two treatments are usually needed - your initial appointment followed by a 4-8 week follow up to review your results and make any adjustments if required.

What should I expect after the treatment?

Immediately after treatment and the following week, the colour will appear darker than your desired results.

After 7-10 days exfoliation takes place and your brows will shed. Do not pick the shedding skin. Itching may occur while skin is healing.

Immediately after shedding colour will appear lighter than expected but the colour will return to a soft healed result over the following weeks.

The result is a natural looking enhancement.

Depending on your skin type and how well you have followed your aftercare, slight patchiness may be normal and can be perfected at your follow up appointment.

After your 10 days of aftercare, you are welcome to wear brow makeup if required until your touch up appointment.

How long will the treatment last?

This varies for individuals based on a variety of factors. Factors include your skin type, sun exposure, lifestyle, skin care and hormones. Your preparation and aftercare also have a drastic impact on the longevity of your brows. We recommend a colour boost every 2 years to keep enhancements looking fresh.

Will the treatment hurt?

Our treatments are generally extremely comfortable and many clients are very relaxed or even fall asleep during their treatments.

Anaesthetics are used to numb the treatment area during the procedure to ensure maximum comfort.

Some clients may experience slight discomfort, but it is uncommon.

Will I be able to return to work the next day?

Yes. Most clients show little sign of swelling or redness after treatment. The colour will be quite dark at first however will soften and lighten within 2 weeks.

Is there risk of infection?

With any cosmetic procedure there is a risk of infection however we ensure minimal risk by enforcing strict hygiene standards throughout.

We use only hospital grade disinfectant and cleaning products in our salon.

Sterile needles from sealed packets are used once only and all other supplies used in the treatments are single use and disposed of after each client.

To prevent cross contamination, we wear clinical PPE including gloves and masks.

Strict after care rules are given to the client at the end of each treatment to ensure strict standards are maintained once our clients leave the salon.

Will I be allergic to the treatment?

An optional skin patch test is offered to all clients. However, an allergic reaction to pigments/dyes can occur immediately after or manifest years later whether or not a skin test patch is performed. Allergic reactions are extremely rare.

Can I get lip blush if I have cold sores?

If your appointment is booked during an outbreak of cold sores on your lips the procedure cannot be done.

Please be aware that if you have the herpes simplex virus, the treatment may trigger an outbreak. If you have this virus it is absolutely essential to take an anti-viral medication such as Zovirax 5 days before, on the day of, and 5 days after your treatment or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist.

Can I get fillers if I want lip blush?

Lip filler will not impact our treatment however it is essential you do not have any filler in the treatment area 4 weeks before or after cosmetic tattooing.

What factors will affect semi permanent makeup?

How long you spend in the sun. The sun fades the pigment faster so sun block may be used to prolong your enhancement.

The regeneration of skin cells – the longer the regeneration takes the longer the pigment holds, therefore mature clients may find greater retention as skin cells turn over slower.

The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment – the slower the absorption the longer the pigment will hold.

The choice of colour – some colours fade quicker than others, e.g. a blonde colour will fade quicker than a dark brown colour.

The area of treatment – enhancements to the face, for example, fade more quickly due to constant exposure and product use.

Oily skin tends to lose colour more quickly than other skin types

• Overly sensitive, dry, flaky or wrinkled skin may heal patchy and require more ongoing maintenance We cannot guarantee the healed results in these skin types.

Can I have Botox treatment before my eyebrow tattoo treatment?

Yes, however it is essential you do not have any antiwrinkle in the treatment area 2 weeks before or after your treatment. We do not tattoo the area where the antiwrinkle is injected so will not impact your cosmetic tattoo treatment however, we may be required to put pressure around your brow and forehead area which may impact the results of your antiwrinkle.

Will I need to pay a deposit when I book my appointment?

Yes a $200 deposit is required to secure all bookings. Due to the nature of the treatment this is non refundable for any cancellations or rescheduled appointments within 5 business days of your appointment.

Can I bring friends or children to the appointment?

Unfortunately, due to health and safety regulations only the cosmetic tattooist artist and the client are allowed in the room. We recommend you come alone as your appointment will be between 2-3 hours.

What do I need to know if I wish to cancel?

Due to the nature of the treatment, to be refunded your booking deposit or have it applied to your treatment cost, all appointments have a strict 5 business day cancellation notice. Deposits will not be refunded for cancellations or rescheduled appointments with less than 5 business days’ notice. If you reschedule your appointment within 5 business days, your deposit will be forfeited, and you will be required to pay the full amount on the day of treatment.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Skin conditions

If you have a skin condition like eczema, psoriasis, keratosis pilaris and dermatitis your skin is in a constant state of unrest and shedding and therefore won’t hold the pigment very well.

The same goes for conditions like chronic acne and rosacea. The inherent nature of this type of skin causes easy bleeding, which once again means your skin will not retain the colour properly.

If you have been taking acne medications such as accutane or retin-a within the last year you have an altered skin condition that will not heal well after the procedure. It’s very important that you wait a year before tattooing the skin. Retinol and vitamin a are very similar and should be discontinued to use a month prior to the procedure.

Excessively oily skin is unsuitable for eyebrow feathering as the strokes will blur together and give off an unwanted solid effect instead of a naturally feathered look. An ombre treatment may be suitable for these clients.

Deep wrinkles can make the overall look appear uneven and we cannot guarantee results in this skin type.

Moles, bumps, and any raised skin will also be unable to retain the pigment.

Unfortunately, cosmetic tattooing is not suitable if you’re prone to keloid scarring.

It is important to not be sunburnt for your procedure.

You cannot have any skin treatments done 4 weeks either side of your cosmetic tattoo treatment.

If you had permanent makeup done previously you will need to send a clear close-up photo of your existing tattoo to determine if we can work with your existing tattoo or if you need to consider removal prior to the procedure.

Medical conditions and medications

You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you have diabetes, haemophilia or a heart condition it is absolutely not recommended that you get any form of permanent, make up done as this puts you in a high-risk position.

If you’re undergoing chemotherapy you will have to wait until your treatment is finished. It is recommended to wait 12 months and you will require a letter from your doctor confirming it is safe to proceed.

Trichotillomania can cause scar tissue in the skin to be prominent, which does not allow the colour to heal properly.

Glaucoma - the use of glaucoma eye drops makes eyelash follicles and eyelids hypersensitive, causing excessive bleeding and poor colour retention. Therefore, eyeliner tattooing is not an option.

Accutane/retin-a - if you have been taking acne medications such as accutane or retin-a within the last year you have an altered skin condition that will not heal well after the procedure. It’s very important that you wait a year before tattooing the skin. Retinol and vitamin a are very similar and should be discontinued to use a month prior to the procedure.

Eyelash and eyebrow growth serums bring extra circulation to the area which results in more growth of hair/lashes. This can cause the skin in that area to be hypersensitive and bleed easily. It is recommended to discontinue the use of these products at least 3-6 months before your treatment.
